This is one of my favorite pizza places in NYC. While I haven't sampled all of the well known places in NY's famous pizza lineage, I have had my share of slices. Giorgio's is definitely one of the best. Tracy and I actually go out of our way to hit the one over on the east side. There's also one down on Union Square, but I think the UES one may be a little better.
The crust is thin and the sauce is sweet, similar to what you'd find at Patsy's. The sauce is also just dripped on in spots, rather than coating the entire pie. They've got a great selection of pies that's far better than the stuff you see at the Famous/Original/Renowned Ray's that you see on every corner. Their grilled veggie pizza, which is our usual, has thinly sliced/small chunks of eggplant, zuchini and red pepper. A much finer delicacy then 5 pounds of broccoli thrown on top of your pie.
In terms of atmosphere, it's not much better than your typical pizza joint in that regard. Take out is probably the way to go.
