Zero 7 falls very much in the same vein as Morcheeba (i.e., downtempo, chill-out). This album is very lush, sexy and mellow. Vocals are split between three different leads, two female and one male, all of whom are very good.

While there are a few standout songs on the disc, like Home, Warm Sound and Passing By, the album as a whole doesn't leave that strong of an impression on me. I think the other songs are just too average and pull the overall album down a couple of notches.

The album just doesn't stand up to a comparison with Morcheeba's "Who Can You Trust" or "Big Calm". A good album with some great moments, but not a great album. Probably 3.5 stars.

How does the album compare to OMD in the mid- Eighties?

Smart ass. ;-)

For the record, not even close. OMD was some great pop music. I remember seeing them in concert at the Syriah Mosque in Pittsburgh.
